About the Event

Applications are now open for the 6 th Form leadership weekend in Aviemore next August bank holiday. We encourage all members of the current Lower Sixth CCF who would like to play a part in the contingent in their final year to come on this weekend. Unless there are exceptional circumstances, we would expect that only those cadets who apply to Aviemore will be members of the CCF in their U6th.

The Leadership Weekend is a chance for the forthcoming senior year group of the CCF to go away with the officer team in order to discuss and develop ideas for the coming year; build relationships that will be crucial to the good running of the CCF; and undertake some physically arduous adventurous training to develop leadership abilities, team working skills and all round physical fitness. We also use the weekend as the opportunity to finally assess Lower Sixth cadets for the next year’s senior posts, and make the appropriate appointments. The venue will be Rothiemurchus Lodge ( http://www.rothiemurchus.co.uk/pages/accommodation.htm )

The arrangements for the weekend involve flying to Scotland on the Friday morning and returning to London on Tuesday afternoon. The weekend will include two days of quality mountain walking, designed to test and encourage leadership skills as well as physical stamina. The third day will be taken up with an alternative adventurous training activity, probably

canyoning.

Cost

The cost for the weekend, including flights, rafting, accommodation and food, is £250 per cadet. While excellent value for an activity trip of this kind, we are also conscious that this is the most expensive trip that we run, and as with our other trips, if you are likely to have problems meeting the cost you are encouraged to contact us on the CCF email in confidence(info@suttongrammarccf.com). We can usually offer support in whole or in part as requested, and consider different payment terms (eg instalments) if that helps. Given the costs associated with travel and the adventurous training, refunds will only be considered in exceptional circumstances. Please only apply for this camp if you are committed to attending.

The deadline for applications is the end of March 2022.
