With only a few days until camp, we thought it would be beneficial to give you a summary of the summer camp at Otterburn:
Sat 12th - Travel to Otterburn, issues stores and camp orientation
Sun 13th and Mon 14th - Fieldcraft training and Bushcraft (delivered by https://primal-adventures.com/ )
Tues 15th and Weds 16th - 36 hour exercise
Thurs 17th and Fri 18th - Range Day and Coasteering (delivered by https://www.adventurenorthumberland.co.uk/ )
Sat 19th - Travel to SGS
Personal Kit and Turnout Please ensure all kit is clean and serviceable before camp.
Berets for many year 9 and 10 cadets have not been moulded very well. Please the video below on how to do it properly ensuring you look presentable on a large regular army base: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cXMlGd3TtbU
Boots need to be clean, polished and without the leather or sole being broken.
Hair needs to meet the standards we expect which are that; hair does not come from the front of the beret, side burns do not come more than half way down the ears and that hair does not touch the collar at the back. If your hair is longer then this should be kept neatly in a bun and then covered with a bun net.
Conditions on Camp
The weather is looking warm and training will be altered if needed. Please remember lots of insect repellent as the conditions will be perfect for midges.
Pollen levels look high and as an officer team we cannot issue any hayfever medications so please bare this in mind.
Medication
Please bring your medication you have prescribed with you making sure you have enough for the trip and hand this in (if needed to) on Saturday morning.
We looking forward to seeing you on Saturday,
Maj R Kempton
