The wait is finally over. Tonight, we are releasing tickets for one of the most anticipated events in the Sutton Grammar CCF calendar: The Pennines Expedition. For many cadets, this expedition defines their time in the contingent. It is more than just a trip; it is a test of character, resilience, and teamwork set against the stunning backdrop of the English countryside. For the main party travelling up to Pennines on Sunday morning, please meet at Sutton Grammar School (Greyhound Rd entrance as usual) at 0830. The aim is to get going no later than 0900. Thankyou.

For those that attending the Pennines trip in Easter, here is a kit list. All those who are interested in going on the Easter Pennines Trip, whether or not you have yet applied online, should attend a meeting after parade next Tuesday (21st Jan) to discuss options and logistics. This also applies to anyone who would like to go but who has a conflict with the ski trip, to see what solutions there are available. For those 21 cadets attending the Easter break's Pennines Expedition, please see the Kit List here. In addition, coaches are departing Sutton Grammar School on Sunday 7 April 2024 at 0900. Please arrive at SGS for 0845 for a prompt departure. You are likely to arrive at camp for around 1500. There will be at least one lunch stop en route which you may wish to bring some money for. Alternatively, a pack lunch and some snacks will suffice.

There will be a briefing for the Pennines expedition following parade on Tuesday 19th March. All Pennines attendees are expected to attend. It should last around half an hour.

Owing to high demand and we have opened up Pennines applications to further registrations. Given no payment is being made at this stage we will confirm places in the New Year. At this stage your application is a statement of interest and we will confirm your place at the beginning of the new year.

Year 11 - 13 cadets can now book onto the Easter holiday's Pennines Expedition. Details are found on the Camp Bookings page. Please note that no payment is required when you book but we will issue payment requests in the New Year. The deadline for signing up will by the end of the first week of the January term.

Following parade on the 21st March there will be a compulsory briefing for all cadets attending the Pennines Expedition during the Easter break. Cpl Maj Stone

Year 11-13 cadets and parents should be aware that we will now be returning from the Pennines expedition on 15 April rather than Sunday 16 April, owing to accommodation issues. The camp will run as planned and there is very little impact on the training itself. Should this cause any inconvenience to those already booked on the trip, please speak to Mr Marshall or Miss Geraghty.

Can I encourage cadets in Years 11 - 13 who are intending to attend this year's Pennines expedition, to make their applications as soon as possible. We will shortly need to make arrangements for mountain leaders and accommodation, and need an accurate indication of numbers before doing so. It is obviously also the case that the expedition can only go ahead with a viable number of applicants, another reason for knowing who is wishing to go as soon as possible.
